Did you know that most people will leave a video within 8-10 seconds or less?

Even though videos are statistically the most engaging medium you can use online, there is way too much content out there competing with yours for your audiences already overwhelmed attention.

The solution? Always think about starting each video with a hook that will keep your audience on the edge of their seats!

Unless you give them a compelling reason to stick around, they will 'flip the channel' for something better. A great hook is no different than an amazing headline, and the purpose is the same, to deliver a promise your audience can't resist getting closure about. A movie trailer is essentially a hook, it's designed to make you want to see what's going to happen, just like a magazine articles headline, or the start of a television show. With a great hook, you'll have a chance at keeping your audience around for the rest of your video, but only as long as it has a great story, and isn't too long.

I go much deeper into this topic and how to craft a compelling story for each of your videos using a powerful framework in Module 2 inside the Video Marketing Essentials Course. This six-part video course is designed to help you create amazing online videos, without going to film school!

Allright let me get the party started. :)

The acclaimed TV mini-series Sherlock was on hiatus for 2 years, and when they released this trailer for Season 3 it got the social media world buzzing with excitement. Watch the first 8-10 seconds, and see the story it tells, even for those not familiar with the show, and all done without saying it explicitly.
