Marketing Stat of the Day: Best Days for Facebook Posts
- Aug 23, 2013 2:26 PM
According to a new study from Socialbakers, which is based on an analysis of almost 2.9 million Facebook posts from 23,000 brand pages over a 2-month period; brands are less likely to post on Facebook on the weekend.
Monday emerges as the best performer, with its relative percentage at 7.1%. What that means, then, is that posts created on Monday were 7.1% more likely to rank among the top posts than the average post created on any single day. By contrast, Saturday (-12.1%) and Sunday (-5.3%) were the worst performers.
The study provides an interesting glimpse into potential opportunities. It also raises other questions, too:
Are users less engaged on the weekend? Or is it that brands are not only posting less on the weekends, but are also updating less engaging content?
Are brands not exploiting opportunities on the weekend, or are they right to be focusing more on posting during the week?

In my experiences over the years, I have found that customers do shop online during the weekends. In fact, through my research and some trial and error, I helped increase sales 100% for a local autodealer working 7 days a week and not much of a slow down during the weekends.
The internet platform is becoming more dynamic and, as it does so, marketing efforts must also be more dynamic. I have had the most success when I work around the clock 7 days a week. Unfortunately, I need to sleep so I have to automate some of my marketing projects in order to keep content fresh and in customer's minds.
